John Plemons, CCAM. A graduate from San Marcos High School in 1980, John immediately went to work for the family business. John left P&K Condo Management to work with his father at Barret Condo Management in 1989 and took over the Presidency of that company in 1991. Married to his wife Lisa for 30 years and living in Escondido, they have two children Heather and John Jr. who also both work for the companies. Heather has given them two wonderful granddaughters Molly and Courtney.

Lisa Plemons, Finance and Accounts Payable Manager, Lisa has been with the companies for 30 years. Married to her husband John for 30 years and living in Escondido, they have two children Heather and John Jr. who also both work for the companies. Heather has given them two wonderful granddaughters Molly and Courtney.

Mary Plemons, CCAM, started the family business with her husband in 1976, he started another business in 1980 and Mary and son in law, Jack Kroeker continued in the business and Incorporated as P&K Condo Management Inc. in 1981. Mary continues to work in the business as well as nine of her family members.

Jack Kroeker, CCAM, Jack graduated from San Pasqual High School in 1975. He had been cooking in a restaurant until installing landscaping and irrigation systems. In 1976 he went to work full time for Plemons Condominium Maintenance. He received is Landscape Contractors License in 1979. In 1980, he and Mary Plemons started P & K Condo Management, Inc. P & K Condo Management, Inc. is a member of the CACM Founding Council. Jack has been an active member of CACM since 1993. He is currently the Vice President of Barret Condo Management & Maintenance and the President of P & K Condo Management, Inc. Jack has been married to his wife Karel for 34 years. Their family consists of Krystal (their oldest daughter) and Darin Avery with grandkids Clayton and Cali; son Joshua and his wife Stephanie; and youngest daughter Karli. Jack enjoys golfing, time with family and friends, water sports, camping and riding his motorcycle.

Karel Kroeker, CCAM, Karel graduated from San Pasqual High School in 1975 and continued to work in the new family business full time doing accounts receivable and financial statements. Karel has been an active member of CACM since 1993. She is the currently the Treasurer of Barret Condo Management & Maintenance and the Secretary of P & K Condo Management.

Karel has been married to her husband Jack for 34 years. Their family consists of Krystal (their oldest daughter) and Darin Avery with grandkids Clayton and Cali; son Joshua and his wife Stephanie; and youngest daughter Karli.

Karel enjoys spending time with her family, motorcycle riding, camping and skiing (both snow and water).

Barbara Gruber, CCAM, I have been a Certified Manager for 17 years and with the family business for 26 years. I am a native Southern California girl and was born and raised in Brawley California in the Imperial Valley. I left the Valley when a married my husband Tom and relocated to the Bay area. We came to visit San Diego and it only took one fishing trip and my husband was hooked and decided this was the place to live. We sold our home and business in San Jose and moved to Escondido where we have lived in the same house for 36 years. We bought a boat and started a brand new life. We have two sons and two daughters who over the years have given us six beautiful granddaughters. We still have a boat in San Diego Bay where our family are all avid salt water fishermen. Needless to say we spend a lot of time on the water.

Heather Turner, Began working for the company during her senior year at Escondido High School in 1997. After graduating in 1998, she began working with the company full time and remains here today. She is married to a United States Marine and has two daughters, Molly and Courtney. In addition to handling the companies Accounts Receivable Department, she obtained her California Notary certificates in 2007, so the office could provide that point of contact to the homeowners and business customers.

Terry Malloy, (Assistant Property Manager & Assistant Financial Manager) I graduated from Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach, California in 1981. I worked as a store auditor and Inventory Control Manager of a clothing warehouse for several years before going to work for P&K and Barret Condo Management in October of 1995. I have been married for 25 years to my husband John and we have 3 daughters, a son in law and a granddaughter.

Dorren Garcia, Office Manager for Barret Condo for 15 years. I graduated from Orange Glen High School in 1982. I have been married to my husband Ricardo for 26 years who works for P&K Condo Management as a field Supervisor. We have two children 27 and 17 years old and also a daughter in law of six years.

Darin Avery, General Contractor. Darin graduated from Escondido High School and went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Business Marketing from Chico State. He has a General B contracting license from the state of California. In 2001, he married Krystal Kroeker and joined the family business where he uses his many years of carpentry and painting experience to help the family.

Darin spends his spare time coaching his son Clayton’s baseball team and answering his daughter Cali’s many questions such as “why does the moon follow me.” He also enjoys camping with his family.

John Plemons Jr., Construction Supervisor for Barret, John has worked in the family business for 6 years since graduating San Pasqual High School in 2003. He is the son of John and Lisa Plemons and is currently engaged to his long time girlfriend Kylene. They plan to be married in September of 2012.

John enjoys fishing and camping.

Joshua Kroeker, Construction Supervisor for P&K, Josh has worked in the family business for 6 years since graduating San Pasqual High School in 2003. He is the son of Jack and Karel Kroeker and has been married to his wife Stephanie for 2 years.

Josh enjoys driving his desert race car and has recently started fishing with his Cousin and Uncle on a regular basis.

Ricardo Garcia, Field Supervisor for P&K Condo Management for 26 years. I graduated from San Pasqual High School in 1980. I have been married to my wife Dorren for 26 years and have two children 27 and 17 years old and also a daughter in law of six years.

Ben Machado, Field Supervisor for P&K Condo Management for 30 years. I am married with three children and have lived in Escondido since my employment.

Juan Alfaro, Construction Supervisor for Barret Condo Management for 10 years. I started as a landscape employee for Barret in 1985 and progressed to construction supervisor in 2000. I live in Ramona with my wife and twin daughters.

Krystal Avery, CCAM. Daughter of Jack and Karel Kroeker and growing up in the business, it was only fitting that she follow in her parents footsteps. She gradated from San Pasqual High School, received her CCAM Certification in 2010, and is currently the Escrow Manager for both P & K Condo and Barret Condo Management and an Assistant Property Manager to Karel Kroeker and Mary Plemons. Krystal is also a Notary Public and has been since 2003.

Krystal married Darin Avery in 2001. Together they have 2 children; Clayton and Cali. Their family enjoys going to the desert and camping in Sequoia National Park.

Barret Condo Management and Maintenance Inc. was opened in 1986 by the then president Vaughn Plemons. Mr. Plemons had opened and operated another Management Company in the Inland North County area of San Diego in 1973 and operated under the name of Plemons Condo Management. Following a divorce of Mary and Vaughn Plemons in 1981 and a reorganization of that company, P&K Condo Management Inc. opened under the ownership of Mary Plemons and Jack Kroeker. Feeling good about his experience in the Management and Maintenance business, Vaughn Plemons opened Barret Condo Management and Maintenance, Inc. in the Coastal North County area of San Diego, so as not to directly compete with his family members. As life would have it, Mary and Vaughn Plemons remarried in 1988 and Mr. Plemons asked his son John to take over the Presidency of Barret Condo in 1991. Accepting the challenges of leaving the daily operations of P&K Condo Management and all his family members, John Plemons started working with his father and eventually took over the Presidency of the Barret Condo. Vaughn Plemons subsequently retired from Barret Condo in 1992.

Following a number of office relocations, from Encinitas to Carlsbad and then to San Marcos the owners of both Barret and P&K came to the conclusion that operating separate offices which were doing the same work was not cost efficient or beneficial to the family. So the eventual move to Escondido of Barret Condo ensued in 2005 and the family members were reunited.

Both companies currently operate out of our new offices in Escondido and our employees consist of mostly family members of Vaughn and Mary Plemons. John Plemons (son), Karel Kroeker (daughter), Lisa Plemons (daughter in law), Jack Kroeker (son in law), Heather Turner (granddaughter), Krystal Avery (granddaughter), Barbara Gruber (sister), Dorren Garcia (Lisa’s sister), Terry Malloy(close friend), Barbara Christensen (Jack’s mother).
